Circographie and the absurd rhythms of everyday life

Au Café des Nonchalants by Milàn Galy and Thibault Michel, together with 9to5 by Asaf Mor, are two performances by Circographie that explore everyday life through juggling and movement. Created for a variety of spaces, from theatres to public environments, both pieces draw on physical expression and rhythm to reflect on the ways individuals navigate time, routine, and social expectations.
In Au Café des Nonchalants, two performers adopt a posture of deliberate slowness, positioning themselves slightly aside from the pace of the world around them. Through a physical language combining juggling and dance, they observe, distort, and play with temporal contrasts, allowing small details and unexpected encounters to shape the performance. Their presence unfolds as a fragile yet playful response to the pressures of contemporary life, where curiosity and nonchalance become tools for resistance.
9to5, in contrast, follows the repetitive cycle of a man absorbed in his work. Precise yet clumsy, methodical yet overwhelmed, he moves within a confined routine defined by tasks, rituals, and inner tension. Through juggling, repetition, and physical struggle, the piece exposes the absurdity of a work environment driven by obsession, frustration, and the impossibility of escape.
Together, these two works offer complementary perspectives on the rhythms of daily life, one slowing them down, the other intensifying them, revealing, through humor and physicality, the fragile balance between control and loss, routine and disruption.
