Circus Dramaturgy Workshop for Regional Artists

With support of Teatroskop, contemporary circus collective ROOM 100 launches the next chapter of its acclaimed circus dramaturgy workshop, led by renowned artist and pedagogue Roberto Magro.

Held in Zagreb (June 9–13) and Klanjec (October 6–10), this two-part, ten-day intensive brings together 10 selected circus artists from Croatia, Serbia, and the broader region for a deep dive into the creative process behind contemporary circus.

Developed since 2020 by ROOM 100 in collaboration with Magro, the workshop responds to the lack of formal circus education in the region. Its goal: to go beyond technical skill and nurture artistic vision, structure, and intent.

Participants spend six hours per day in physical training and dramaturgical exploration. The second module in Klanjec offers a communal learning environment, where artists live and study together, sharing performance materials, readings, and critical discussions.

Over the years, more than 40 artists have taken part in this program. With its commitment to accessibility and shared learning, the workshop continues to offer rare and transformative space for circus artists to strengthen their creative voices and rethink the way performance is made.

Supported by Teatroskop Grants 2025.
