DESORDEN and the rhythms of disorder

DESORDEN is a collaboration between circus artist and choreographer Justine Berthillot and musician-composer Xavier Roumagnac. Conceived as a performance for rollerblades and drums, the piece brings together movement and live music in a shared exploration of instability, momentum and transformation. What began as an improvisation has evolved into a work where physical action and sound continuously shape one another.

At the centre of the performance is the act of rolling, not simply as movement through space, but as a way of drifting through inner landscapes. On her rollerblades, Justine Berthillot moves between balance and collapse, acceleration and suspension, tracing pathways that feel both instinctive and dreamlike. Accompanied by drums and electronic textures performed live by Xavier Roumagnac, the performance unfolds as a ritual driven by rhythm, repetition and shifting energies.

Extending beyond the performance itself, DESORDEN also creates space for words and collective reflection. Through spoken text, sound and audience participation, the project asks what remains when certainty disappears and familiar structures begin to unravel. Bringing together circus, choreography, music and poetic language, DESORDEN invites audiences into a shared experience where disorder becomes a source of imagination, connection and renewal.
