ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering 2023 « Turning Point »

This year, and for the first time, Serbia will host the central annual meeting of the World Association of Theater for Children and Youth ASSITEJ International !

ASSITEJ International is a network of artists and organisations in over 75 countries dedicated to the belief that every child and young person deserves access to the arts, and especially to live performance, from the earliest possible age. This year’s central meeting of the network will include 20 theater performances for children and youth, an international conference on the rights of children and youth to culture, a series of lectures and workshops on the topic of stage design and new technologies, as well as a series of talks, seminars, exhibitions and installations on the most diverse challenges and current issues of the performing arts for young audience, intended both for the domestic public and for the hundreds of professionals from abroad.

Entitled « Turning Point », echoing the position in which the whole world finds itself now and the status of theatre and performing arts for children and young people, the aim of the gathering is to improve the position and visibility of theater for young audiences on the agendas of local, regional and international decision-makers, to introduce and support new generations of professionals and artists, as well as to strengthen intergenerational trust and cooperation, while in the meantime, to put the artists and productions of Southeastern Europe in the spotlight.
