No Magic! regional project

This project is more than just a performance tour—it is a significant contribution to the growth of contemporary circus in the region. No Magic challenges audiences while also serving as an educational platform for emerging artists. By witnessing these innovative performances and engaging in hands-on workshops, young circus performers will gain fresh insights into their craft and discover new ways to push artistic boundaries.

Performed by Philine Dahlmann, Julie Bergez, and Elise Reine of the My!Laika company, No Magic is a daring and ironic deconstruction of circus spectacle. The three acrobats revel in exaggeration, pushing razzle-dazzle to its limits while exposing the absurdity of performance itself. Their meticulously controlled randomness, infused with deep irony, turns traditional circus aesthetics on their head. The result? A hypnotic and provocative experience that blurs the line between order and chaos, reality and illusion.

Through a unique fusion of movement, Duchampesque soundscapes, and striking visual effects, No Magic challenges the very nature of performance, inviting audiences into an unpredictable world where surprise gives way to paradox. The spectacle is as unsettling as it is hilarious, ensuring that no viewer walks away unaffected.

In addition to the performances, the artists will host a special workshop titled No! Workshop, open to all circus disciplines. This engaging session will focus on exploring each participant’s artistic essence through humor and sensitivity. Using theater and stage presence exercises, participants will learn how to distort and reimagine their circus techniques to create new possibilities on stage.
