Regional tour: „Within a Thousand Suns“

This spring, Within A Thousand Suns by Slippery Art Project sets out on a regional tour across Southeast Europe, with performances at the Veszprém International Dance Festival (Hungary), the Cloud Festival in Tirana (Albania), and the Šibenik Dance Festival (Croatia).

Within A Thousand Suns is a choreographic duo — a bold exploration of movement and form, developed over four years of radical experimentation with inline skates and crutches.

In this creation, the unique mechanics of gliding, mastered through the dancers’ precise technique and the contemporary artistic approach of the choreographers, serve as the foundation for a hybrid dance that disrupts the familiar.
Using unconventional tools to craft a physical language that reimagines the body as both primal and augmented, the performers constantly challenge the limits of their physicality, endlessly redefining themselves.

Structured as a triptych, the piece unfolds through three distinct choreographic landscapes. It transitions fluidly from a hypnotic interplay inspired by the entanglement of particles, to a frenetic confrontation that satirizes human restlessness, and culminates in an evocative exploration of instinct and visceral drives.

Through these complementary yet contrasting worlds, Within A Thousand Suns delves into the conscious and unconscious forces that shape our actions in a constantly evolving world. It questions our conditioning and examines the tension between freedom and determinism — and the elusive boundary that separates them.
