You’re my sister, Sœur by Cie In Vitro — A tour of intimacy and reconciliation across Southeast Europe

This summer and autumn, French artist Marine Mane and her collaborators bring You’re my sister, Sœur to audiences in Serbia, Romania, Albania, Montenegro, and Croatia, supported by Teatroskop and the French Institute.

Created for the performers Sophie Billon and Clémence Dieny, this dance duet explores reconciliation—not as a reaction to conflict, but as an intentional act of love, erotic joy, and radical equality. Drawing from the writings of bell hooks, Audre Lorde, and Felwine Sarr, Marine Mane crafts a poetic, non-confrontational dramaturgy that reimagines relationships beyond binary structures and violence.

The title You’re my sister, Sœur embraces this multiplicity: “sister” in both French and English, but also “sir” and “sœur” as gender-fluid terms of kinship. On stage, the performers embody trust, vulnerability, and tenderness through uninterrupted physical dialogue, set to a cinematic score by Franky Gogo and accompanied by a sustainable lighting design by Lucien Valle.

In addition to the performances, the tour features several workshops in collaboration with regional partners including FEP, Pokretnica, and Festival Periskop. These moments of transmission and dialogue extend the work’s core themes into shared physical practice and local conversations.

This is a tour of tenderness, politics, and movement—reclaiming love as a practice of freedom.
