Contemporary circus : 11th edition of CirkoBalkana Festival

After celebrating its tenth anniversary last year, the contemporary circus festival CirkoBalkana is back for its eleventh edition, on the theme of monodiscipline.

Jointly organised by Cirkorama from Zagreb and Cirkusfera from Belgrade, CirkoBalkana will this year host performances based on only one circus technique, to discover the diversity of performance vocabularies within individual contemporary circus microcosms.

As part of the programmation, the French circus school of Turbul’ will open the festival with a performance on the flying trapeze, and the French company Circo Nagual will present „Ofrenda“ under the circus tent, a performance around the mysticism of Mexican and native-American traditions.

The festival CirkoBalkana is supported through Teatroskop « Artistic Cooperation and Networking Grants » 2023 and the touring of „Ofrenda“ by Circo Nagual is supported through Teatroskop « Touring and Capacity Building Grants » 2023.
